Hey folks! So, I don't know about you, but I have had a lot of work on my plate as of late and am wrapped up in plans for things and sometimes, when I feel there is too much going on I find it's nice to tune out.What better way to tune out than to tune into some new show people rave about?
I recently got turned on the the TV series American Horror Story. Normally horror film based things aren't really my thing, but in this case the show is fun and the cast quite amazing and the budget and time allows them to turn out something really special.
I've only done the first series thus far,but I'll be tucked in to the future ones no doubt cause it's so fun!
But I have to say, my favorite part of the show is all the costumes and hair and makeup. So much of the show is done in flash back through various era's and the women's styles are flawless.

Constance Langdon
First off we have the creepy secret keeping neighbor played by the ever glamorous Jessica Lange, who somehow has managed to stay roughly the same age for about 30 years. I don't know if it's the genetic lottery or a very skilled surgeon, but that woman looks amazing.
Her character has such fabulous hair and clothes and as she is one of the characters with one of the longest histories in the house she has lots of fab flashbacks with great styles too.
But my favorite look she seems to have on a pretty regular basis is her lounging about like a jilted southern belle look, rather reminiscent of Elizabeth Taylor in cat on a hot tin roof.
Nora Montgomery
The privileged 1920's era frustrated housewife turned crazy baby mama ghost is played by Lily Rabe. Her character has an assortment of amazing 1920's beaded flapperesque dresses and a fabulous short curled do. While her character wavers back and forth between loving mother full of sorrow for being torn from he child and spoilt nagging plotting wife her wardrobe and hair and makeup stay flawless. Love this characters look!

Young Moira
Moira is a fabulous character played by two women. Alexandra Breckenridge and Francis Conroy. Now, I can't claim to really understand exactly why there are two versions of this character. From what I gather she was a sexy man eater when she got killed and so men see her ghost the same as she was before she died. But then women seem to see her as the age she might be had she not stopped aging. Which is a little weird cause no other ghosts seem to age after they die..but hey who am I to be a stickler for the plot!? It's pretty good as it is so I won't pick it apart. Anyway, the point is the young Moira is a maid wearing a very sexy maid uniform and has this sexy vintage femme fatale look about her. (she was killed in the 80's yet looks like it's the 40's but again this would be nit picking.)
Elisabeth Short aka The Black Dahlia
One of the things I find neat about this show is how they managed to combine made up story and fiction with bits of real history and interweave them to make a historical fiction come to life. Mena Suvari doesn't play a huge role in the show but she does have a recurring character playing the infamous young aspiring actress Elisabeth Short who was murdered in a very gruesome way and was a huge Hollywood murder mystery back in the day. When Elisabeth's body was found nobody knew who she was and she was dubbed the Black Dahlia by the media. The look her character has is that old Hollywood actress/sex kitten in the making, love the hair, makeup and clothes they got for this character!
