Top 5 Retro Frocks for fuller figures on a budget
Ok, so finding real vintage in plus sizes is not the easiest task in the world and depending on where you live it might even be impossible. Sure there are vintage vendors in etsy shops who sell one off's but it's not easy to tell what will fit, you usually can't return it and if it's real vintage and real fab then it is probably not real cheap.
So if you are a plus size lover of vintage fashions on a budget and you don't mind getting a retro reproduction then here are 5 dresses all under 100 bucks from 5 different sites that you should know about.
Hopefully you might find just what you are looking for!
1. Plus-size retro belted pleat dress - Chicstar.com - $59.95
I'm not madly in love with everything on their site and I find that a lot of it looks a bit costumey but this dress comes in Red and Black, goes up to a size 28, has a bit of spandex for a comfortable stretch fit, is machine washable (unlike a lot of vintage) and with it's full skirt, cute bow and fab collar would make a beautiful addition to any lady's wardrobe.
2. Black & Pink Dainty Eve Wiggle Dress - Unique-Vintage.com - $54 (ON SALE FROM $64)
This site actually has a lot of really cute vintage reproduction dresses in lots of different styles and this super cute wiggle dress with it's bow collar detail really caught my eye. The dress is available up to a 2X and they even do international shipping!
3. Erin Wiggle Dress - Pinupgirlclothing.com - $96
Pinup Girl Clothing as I am sure you know from previous posts is one of my favorite vintage reproduction sites for plus size gals. The have a lot of really really cute stuff in lots of sizes and it won't break the bank. This dress is one of their top sellers and I am sure you can see why. It's sexy and form fitting but comfortable and easy to care for. It's available up to a 4X, has lots of stretch and give and comes in 4 great colors,Turquoise, Black, Green, and Berry (shown here).
4. Big Band Singer Dress - Modcloth.com - $89.99
Mod Cloth is amazing! They have sooooo many super cute designs modern and vintage inspired and many of them are available up to a size 4X. This super cute 40's style dress is one of them. It is available in black and red with adorable polka dots. It's got a sweetheart neckline that is so flattering on every shape but with the keyhole collar you can wear it with almost any bra for support which is extra nice.
5. Betty Lou Honey Dress - Dress911.com - $53.97 (On sale from $89.95)
Dress 911 has a number of very cute vintage inspired frocks in sizes up to 2X. The ship all over the place and have a good return policy and a helpful sizing chart so that you can judge what size to get by your measurements rather than some arbitrary size number. The Betty Lou dress is sweet and light and perfect for summer with a full swing skirt and ties at the waist so you can cinch it in and get that lovely hourglass shape.

You know I had a dream the other night and I think I burnt my fingers doing Kim Kardashians hair...I woke up with my fingers pressed against the heater..not 100% sure what that is meant to mean, except that I definitely blame Kim Kardashian for my toasted finger tips...
Wait, sorry...got totally side tracked. Ok that point I was trying to make was that I really love this old hollywood look for her new perfume. Reminds me of a dark haired hitchcock girl. Love the dotted swiss blouse and the cat eye glasses are fantastic!

Real Life Vintage Wedding: Sarah & Marshall

Today I have a lovely wedding I'd like to share with you.
Sarah and Marshall came to Paris for a beautiful elopement and I had the pleasure of doing Sarah's hair and makeup for her. She wanted to go for a soft asymetric pincurled vintagy inspired look to compliment her dress and the vintage Rolls Royce they chose to take them round the city to shoot their photos.
Ian Holmes is the amazing photographer who captured their sweet ceremony and swept them round the city to make beautiful photos and memories.
They visited the Pont Des Arts bridge to hang their own love lock and the Bir Hakim bridge among other romantic spots.

Ok, so Queen Latifah is awesome.
Period.
Her personal style changes constantly but girl knows how to rock a vintage look with flare!
She wore this fabulous black tea length dotted swiss 50's inspired look to the People's Choice Awards back in 2010 and it's super cute and retro adorable.
I found a very similar dress available through the online Chinese dress retailer Light In The Box
Light In The Box has many many cute (and some retro inspired) dresses and they have sizes up to a 26 available for almost all of them.
For a little extra dough they even offer made to measure so if your measurements are hard to fit then coughing up a little extra and busting out the tape measure might be your best bet.
A steal at 107€ I had to order myself one...so in 6-8 weeks I should have my own little bit of Light In The Box Showing up at my house Hooray!

It is a beautifully made vintage girdle by Barbara of Paris.Four straps all in great condition with hook and eye closure and zipper up the front panel.It's fully boned and very sturdy for extra support but while still remaining comfy and sexy.
The tag says it is a 2XL but we all know how widely sized can vary by brand so unstretched the waist measures at a 35" and the hips at about 40".
I've had it on models ranging from a size 14-16 to a size 20-22 and it's got a lot of give to it to accomidate a good number of sizes and shapes.
It's 69% cotton, 31% rubber and made in France..it says you could machine wash and line dry it but my humble opinion is it's nice to wash your delicates (especially vintage ones) by hand if you want them to look great and last a while.
